It’s one of the greatest rivalries in all of sports and certainly the most storied in the NBA.
It’s Los Angeles vs. Boston. Purple and gold vs. green and white. Auerbach and Jackson. Russell and Chamberlain. Magic and Bird. Paul Pierce and Kobe Bryant.
The Lakers and Celtics have met in the NBA Finals a record 12 times, and they have combined (Celtics have 17, Lakers 16) to win half of the 66 championships in NBA history.
With all of that history between the two franchises, there have been countless memories made for fans of the league. That holds true for our crew here at Time Warner Cable SportsNet as well.
With the Lakers set to play in Boston on Thursday evening, we asked James Worthy and Chris McGee to take a moment and look back on their memories of the Lakers-Celtics rivalry. We hope you enjoy.
James Worthy: 'My favorite Laker memory starts with one of my worst memories in Boston'
Chris McGee: 'My hatred for the Celtics grew from that very moment'
